Masterclass: Experimental Textile Techniques
Friday 13 Oct, 12noon - 5.30pm

Come Along and Innovate with textile techniques inspired by knit, weave and Japanese lacework with international fashion designer and Central Saint Martin tutor Derek Lawlor. This hands-on masterclass is open to all textile makers / designers, students and enthusiasts.

As part of Hi! Fashion Lawlor presents a piece from his AW09 collection which drew inspiration from body armour and protection in the dress of Japanese Samurai. Influenced by the heavy structure and striking silhouette of the traditional costume, he developed a series of fabrications which fused his knitted lacework with unique Japanese wax cotton cord technique. Lawlor’s designs infuse unique fabrications of knitted material with his innovative signature cord-work, and challenge the possibilities of knitwear.
