The first meeting of the Craft Writers’ Group takes place on Monday 4 February, 7-9pm at the Trinity Enterprise Centre (Design Tower), Pearse Street, Dublin; meetings are free and new members are welcome.
Professor Jessica Hemmings (Head of Faculty of Visual Culture at NCAD, writer, academic and co-editor of Make Believe) will speak about her experience of editing The Textiles Reader – the text which will be considered by the group during 2013.
If you plan to attend the Craft Writers' Group meetings regularly, it is recommended that you acquire The Textile Reader, edited by Jessica Hemmings and published by Berg (2012). There is much of interest here, even for those who are not involved in textiles. If you can get a copy in advance of the meeting, the February group reading will be Everyday Use by Alice Walker (pp 436-411).
If you are planning to attend, please email Eleanor Flegg (firstname.lastname@example.org) - including your mobile number in case of cancellation, and let her know if you are bringing work-in-progress to read to the group. (Group members are encouraged to bring work as often as possible).
