The National Design & Craft Gallery invite you learn about the heritage of design education in Kilkenny. Our panel of speakers will reflect on their immersive educational experience in the Butler House Scholarship programme & at the Kilkenny Design Workshops (KDW). Education in a broad selection of design disciplines, from craft to visual communications and industrial design will be discussed. Established in 1963, KDW was located in the Castle Yard, where it operated successfully until 1988. Its primary objective was to cultivate design for industry.
