Events as part of Kilkenny Arts Festival 2015, Nine Lives exhibition at National Craft Gallery

FAMILY CREATIVE SPACE

The Sky's the Limit with artists Órla Kelly and Deirdre Rogers

Installation: Sat 8 & Sun 9 August 2015, 1pm– 4pm,
Drop in, all ages, no booking required.

Build, make and explore a magical city using light, paper and fabric. Come on a creative journey through this magical handmade cityscape with artists Órla Kelly and Deirdre Rogers. ReCreate will supply a variety of unusual materials to make this a unique creative experience for the whole family.
This is a drop-in activity for all ages.

ReCreate is a national social enterprise that takes end of line and surplus stock from businesses and reuses them as arts materials.

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS {NOW ALL FULLY BOOKED}
Tues 11, Wed 12, Thurs 13 August 2015
2pm, 3pm, 4pm

Workshops are now fully booked. Due to limited capacity maximum of one workshop per child. Parents/ Guardians must stay in the Castle Yard area during workshops. Suitable for children ages 5 -13years of age, workshop duration 45mins.

CLAY SKYSCRAPERS with Maeve Sookram {NOW FULLY BOOKED}
This experimental workshop invites children to construct a skyscraper using clay and an assortment of found objects. Create fascinating forms and see how you can build a tall structure with ceramist Maeve Sookram. Each child will have the opportunity to make a ‘’mini’’ skyscraper with air-dried clay that can be taken home and paint also.

MODULAR TOWERS with Billy McDonald {NOW FULLY BOOKED}
The Modular Towers workshop gives children the opportunity to explore architectural design through the tactile process of model making. Participants will transform a simple cardboard box into an apartment unit, experimenting with form and texture. Each apartment will then be stacked to create a modular tower. This architectural experiment will encourage children to play with the process of design.


BUILDING PATTERNS with Caroline Ryan {NOW FULLY BOOKED}
Create unique patterns inspired by the architecture featured in our Nine Lives exhibition. Take a closer look at structure, explore line and identify shapes and patterns through the medium of print. Each child will learn the skill of silk-screen printing and take home their own unique design.
