The National Design and Craft Gallery is delighted to welcome Sandra McAllister as our new resident crafts person. Sandra will be working closely with our Education and Outreach Officer for the next three months, helping to deliver age diverse workshops as part of our innovative gallery education programmes.
Sandra is a print and textile artist based in Kilkenny and is a member of the DCCoI Education Panel, she is also a graduate of Grennan Mill Craft School and the National College of Art and Design, specialising in sculpture. In 2017, Sandra was selected for the Student Bursary Award from the Kilkenny based Blackstack Studio and won The Late Late Show Restoration competition in the previous year in which she wove the fabric for and restored an Edwardian Barber's chair. Sandra runs process-focused workshops for various cultural centres, which aim to inspire the individual creativity of the participants.
