Bealtaine: Narrative Tools

National Design & Craft Gallery (NDCG) with textile artist Caroline Schofield invite you to participate in a collaborative project:

Narrative Tools

We invite you to send us photographs of handed-down tools or inherited hand-made items, and tell us why it is important to you.

Email to events@ndcg.ie or post to National Design & Craft Gallery, Narrative Tools project, Castle Yard, Kilkenny. Content will be shared as on ndcg.ie and @NDCGallery social media, celebrating family stories and craft connections. Penned narratives are also welcome. We hope to showcase the ‘Narrative Tools’ project as part of Bealtaine Festival 2021.

This inter-generational project is inspired by National Design & Craft Gallery’s Generation exhibition, and is launched as part of Bealtaine Festival At Home 2020.

“Ever since vessels were first made from clay, clothing from wool, and metal used to create precious objects, makers have been inspired by the past. Craftsmanship and making have been passed down within families. We would love to know the traditions and history of your family as told through the craft tools you use or have inherited”. Caroline Schofield
